HVS welcomes the White Rose 4-H Club
On Monday, June 28th, we hosted the White Rose 4-H Club for a barn tour and picnic lunch.  The group was interested in
touring a lesson and boarding facility, and we greatly enjoyed their visit.
The group returned to us on Wednesday, July 28th,  when Gwen Edsall of Hawk's Haven Horses in Virginia, presented a
body work clinic and demonstrated  her techniques on two horses that they brought to our stable. We are happy to have
had the opportunity to host the meetings at our barn.
First-timers compete in July Hunt Cap Schooling Show
Two of our students enjoyed their first horse show on Wednesday, July 21st. Taylor and Christina, who usually ride Kish in
their lessons, hopped on Ricky and Ziggy and competed in the Walk-Trot and Lead-Line divisions. Both girls thoroughly
enjoyed the experience and look forward to their next opportunity to show.
The rest of the gang did a great job, and brought home more than 30 ribbons in their various divisions. Hannah and Hot
John defended their Hunter Pleasure Division championship, while Dee and Ziggy were Walk-Trot Younger Division
champs and Walk-Trot Open Division reserve. Everyone who showed came home with ribbons and smiles, despite the 90
degree temperatures. As always, it was a great day at South Branch Farms, and we look forward to the next shows in
August. (Click

Riders compete successfully in several area shows
Over the past month, many of our riders have enjoyed competing in different shows in the area. On August 11th, we
attended the third Hunt Cap Schooling show, and on the 14th, attended the new Hunt Cap Finale show. We were pleased
that all of our competitors came home with ribbons and/or division honors. Hannah and Hot John were our real stars as
they placed first in every one of their classes at the Finale show.
On Sunday, August 29th, Hannah and Hot John showed at Halcyon Farms in Dillsburg and did very well in the
Pre-Children's Hunter Division, winning a second, a fourth and a fifth against some tough competition.
Cindy and Delight showed in the Hopeful Hunter Division at the Quentin Fall Show on Friday, September 3rd and won a
sixth in Hunter Under Saddle. Delight was at the top of his game, and we were very pleased with how well he did. Hannah
and John did a good job the following day in the Pre-Children's Hunter Division, riding in a class of nearly 30 competitors.
Our next outing will be to attend the Beaufort Hunter Trials in Dillsburg on Sunday, October 10th. We encourage anyone
interested in showing to sign up soon. It's a great time, and the Beaufort Hunt is known for giving the prettiest prizes. Plus,
the event features the ever popular Terrier Races. Don't miss it!
