Easter Monday Camp featured plenty of fun. We started out with a scavenger hunt--a great way for the kids to get to know one another at the start of the day. We followed up with a general horse knowledge quiz and then headed out to the ring for a couple of fun unmounted contests. Campers learned about grooming techniques, including clipping and mane pulling. Turbo was our very patient subject, and the kids tried their hands at using the pulling comb. After our lunch break, we groomed the horses and had some ride time in the outdoor ring. It was a spectacular day, and we were delighted to be treated to such fine weather. After our ride, we did our own variation of an Easter Egg Hunt--a horseless Egg 'N Spoon competition--while we waited for our vet to arrive to administer spring vaccines. Dr. Frederickson explained to the campers the importance of properly vaccinating our horses in the spring and fall. And that wrapped up a great day at the barn. Our next camp will be our horse show prep camp, so if you're interested in learning about horse showing and in helping to plan our next Harvest View Fun Show, this camp's for you!
