HVS held a Games-On-Horseback Fun Show to benefit Phyllis Dawson's
Windchase--Melissa Hunsberger’s barn--which burned to the ground on
June 10th. Despite a drizzly evening, we raised more than $500 to help out.

Fortunately, no horses, people nor pets were injured, but Windchase lost
everything else in the fire. We will give them a Bit of Britain Gift Certificate, so
they’ll be able to restock some of their necessities.

If you could not attend our evening of Fun, but would like to contribute to the
fundraiser, please get in touch with Cindy.

HVS Last Hurrah Combined Test
& Dressage Show for Lesson Students
Sunday, 11/18, 1 p.m.
It's time for the season's last Combined Test for HVS lesson students. This is a chance for all HVS students to have some
fun and try out some low-key eventing skills. Our combined test will feature a dressage test, followed by a show-jumping
round in the outdoor ring.

If you're new to eventing or to dressage, don't worry--this will be a super fun, low-key way to give it a try. We are adding a
tadpole division for those who are not yet ready to jump, and the course will be over poles on the ground. We may
combine divisions if entries warrant. Those who prefer not to jump are welcome to do a dressage test only. We
encourage everyone to come out and have a good time!
Click here to download the entry form.

We will offer the following levels (follow the link to the USEA website and click on the appropriate dressage test (we will
use the 2010 tests
):

Dressage riders choose from
USDF Intro A , B & C and Training 1 & Training 2.
Tadpole (
USDF Intro Test A; Ground poles)
Elementary
(USDF Intro Test B; Jumps 18")
Intro (Beginner Novice Test B; Jumps 2' - 2'3")
Beginner Novice (Beginner Novice Test A; Jumps 2'7" max.)
Novice (Novice Test B; Jumps 2'11" max.)

If you've never ridden a dressage test, check out this link for a nice explanation. (Keep in mind that it describes the old
tests, not the updated ones, but it will still give you an idea of what the judge wants to see.)  Another place to check out
is
Dressage Academy. As is customary with our shows, HVS will provide beverages, and we ask that our riders bring a
snack to share.
The entry fee is $45/rider or $20/test for dressage riders who have entered and prepaid by the
closing date, Wednesday, November 14th.
