Hunt Night, 2005
On Monday, October 17th, Buccaneer and Cindy represented The Beaufort Hunt
at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show's annual Hunt Night. Members of
recognized fox hunting clubs from around the country gathered to compete at the
Farm Show Complex at Harrisburg. The evening's events included Field Hunters
over Fences, a horn-blowing contest, a parade of hounds, Jack Russell Terrier
races, and the ever-popular hunt teams.
Buck and Cindy competed in Ladies' Field Hunter Under Saddle, and with nearly
30 horses in the ring, it was the largest class of the evening. Although they didn't
win a ribbon, Buck was one of the first horses called into the center of the ring
before the others were excused. At 22, Buck was most likely among the oldest
horses in the ring, and it was an honor just to be noticed among so many lovely
fox hunting horses. We were very proud of his performance...he looked beautiful
and shiny, and according to our trainer, looked the best he has in years.
Special thanks to all of our friends and family who came to the show to cheer us
on. It really was a fun and special evening, and we surely appreciated all of the
support and well wishes.
Look how the beautiful braid job by Liz shows off that
shiny butt!
What a lovely trot for an elderly gentleman!
...and on Tuesday, gets a well-deserved opportunity to relax and graze on the lawn.
Mane braided and dressed in his schooling attire,
Buck is ready for his morning warm-up ride.
All bathed, braided and shiny, Buck relaxes outside
his stall.
